Biréli Lagrène is a French jazz guitarist renowned for blending traditional Gypsy jazz—drawing heavily from the style of Django Reinhardt—with elements of bebop, rock, and flamenco. He began playing professionally at a very young age, gaining recognition for his virtuosic technique and improvisational skills. Throughout his career, Lagrène has collaborated with numerous prominent musicians including Chet Baker, Benny Carter, and John McLaughlin, exploring diverse musical avenues while consistently returning to his roots in the *jazz manouche* tradition.
Victoria Hall in Geneva, Switzerland, opened in 1894 and is considered one of the finest concert halls in Europe due to its exceptional acoustics. Designed by Ferdinand Châtelain, it’s notable for its horseshoe-shaped layout inspired by the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. The hall has hosted a wide range of performances encompassing classical music, opera, and contemporary artists. It serves as the home venue for the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and frequently welcomes internationally acclaimed orchestras and soloists. Victoria Hall underwent significant renovations in 2005 to modernize facilities while preserving its historical character and acoustic integrity. The building itself is listed as a Swiss heritage site.
