The Berlin Philharmonic will perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London on September 2nd, 2026. Renowned globally, the Berlin Philharmonic is celebrated for its distinctive sound – often described as possessing a rich, warm tone and exceptional clarity – and its commitment to both traditional repertoire and contemporary works. The orchestra has a long history of innovation and a tradition of working with leading conductors and soloists.
The Royal Albert Hall, opened in 1871 by Queen Victoria, is a prominent concert venue in South Kensington, London. Originally conceived as part of the Great Exhibition of 1851’s lasting legacy, it was named in memory of Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria. Its distinctive circular design and impressive acoustics have made it a favoured location for classical music performances, as well as other events like film premieres and sporting competitions. The hall is notable for its lack of pillars obstructing views and its large capacity – seating approximately 5,234 people. It holds Grade I listed building status recognizing its architectural and historical importance. The hall has hosted the BBC Proms every year since 1941, becoming strongly associated with this annual festival.
