Experience Belcea Quartet live on September 27th
The Belcea Quartet performs at Wigmore Hall, London on September 27, 2026. The quartet is recognised for its insightful and emotionally compelling interpretations of chamber music, particularly within the classical and romantic repertoire, but also frequently engaging with contemporary works. Their playing is characterised by a refined sound, meticulous ensemble work, and a clear narrative approach to each piece. Formed in 1990, the quartet has a long-standing relationship with mentor Walter Levin of the LaSalle Quartet, influencing their dedication to detailed score study and collaborative performance.
Wigmore Hall holds a distinguished position as one of the world’s leading chamber music venues. Opened in 1901, it was originally built as a private salon for the Bechstein piano company to showcase its instruments. Quickly becoming renowned for its exceptional acoustics – consistently ranked among the best globally – it transitioned into an independent charitable organisation in 1905. Unlike many larger concert halls, Wigmore Hall maintains a deliberately intimate atmosphere with a seating capacity of approximately 544. It has hosted performances by virtually every major chamber musician and recitalist since its inception and remains dedicated exclusively to chamber music, song recitals and solo instrumental performances.
