Béla Fleck is a celebrated American banjo and composer, known for his genre-bending musical explorations. While rooted in bluegrass, his work incorporates elements of classical, jazz, pop, and world music traditions. He’s renowned for demonstrating the banjo’s versatility as a serious instrument beyond its traditional associations, frequently collaborating with artists across diverse musical landscapes and composing for film and television. He has won 15 Grammy Awards throughout his career.

Sandy Point State Park, located in Annapolis, Maryland, occupies 73 acres on a peninsula formed by the confluence of the Chesapeake Bay and Rock Creek. Originally established as a sand mining operation to provide material for constructing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge – completed in 1952 – the land was transformed into a public park in 1956. The park offers recreational opportunities including swimming, boating, fishing, and picnicking. It’s characterized by its sandy beach, views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and historical significance relating to the bridge's construction. The park is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and attracts significant visitor numbers annually due to its proximity to Annapolis and Baltimore.
