Their sound blends traditional Cajun instrumentation – fiddle, accordion, guitar, bass, and drums – with influences from zydeco, blues, and even rock, creating a dynamic and energetic performance style. Led by Michael Doucet on fiddle and vocals, the group has been performing for over four decades and is credited with revitalizing Cajun music and bringing it to a wider audience. The Buckman Performing Arts Center resides within the historic Buckman School building, originally constructed in 1923 as a school for African American children during segregation. It underwent extensive renovations in the early 2000s transforming it into a multi-purpose arts venue. The Center now hosts a variety of performances including concerts, theatrical productions, dance recitals and community events. It features a 360-seat theatre designed to provide excellent acoustics and sightlines.
