Experience BBC Concert Orchestra live on August 25th
The BBC Concert Orchestra will perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London on August 25, 2026. The orchestra is recognised for its versatility across a broad repertoire, encompassing light classical music, film scores, musical theatre, and popular contemporary works alongside standard orchestral pieces. Established in 1931 as the BBC Variety Orchestra, it evolved to become the BBC Concert Orchestra, maintaining a commitment to both accessible and innovative programming.
The Royal Albert Hall opened in 1871 and was originally named in memory of Prince Albert, husband to Queen Victoria. Designed by Captain Francis Fowke and Colonel Henry Scott, it’s a distinctive circular building constructed primarily of iron and glass. Throughout its history, the Hall has hosted a diverse range of events – from classical concerts and opera to sporting events and popular music performances. It is particularly well-known for hosting the annual BBC Proms season, a tradition since 1941. The venue’s acoustics are renowned, though sometimes challenging due to its large volume; modifications have been made over time to refine them. It remains a significant cultural landmark and Grade I listed building.
