Experience Balimaya Project live on August 18th

Balimaya Project will perform at EartH, London, on August 18, 2026. The group creates music rooted in the traditions of balafon music from West Africa, specifically drawing from the repertoire of the late master balafonist, Néga Diakité. Their sound blends these traditional elements with influences from jazz, electronic music, and contemporary UK sounds, featuring intricate polyrhythms and dynamic arrangements. Balimaya Project was initially conceived as a project to preserve and expand upon Diakité’s musical legacy, with members having studied directly under him.

EartH (Evolutionary Arts Hackney) is a multi-arts venue located in Hackney Downs Studios, East London. Originally a 1920s tram depot known as the Blackhorse Lane Tram Depot, it underwent extensive renovation and reopened as EartH in 2018. The venue consists of two distinct spaces: EartH Hall, a larger standing capacity space often used for live music and performance art; and EartH Studio, a more intimate setting suitable for smaller gigs, club nights and film screenings.
