Experience Bach Consort Wien live on February 20th
Bach Consort Wien, renowned for its historically informed performance practice of Johann Sebastian Bach’s compositions and those of his contemporaries, will perform at the Musikverein in Vienna on February 20, 2027. The ensemble focuses on utilizing period instruments and vocal techniques to recreate the sound world as it would have been experienced during the Baroque era. Their interpretations are characterized by clarity, refined phrasing, and a commitment to scholarly research regarding performance practices of the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Musikverein, home of the Vienna Philharmonic, holds significant historical and musical importance. Completed in 1870, it was designed by Hans Semper and is celebrated globally for its exceptional acoustics, particularly within the Golden Hall (Goldener Saal). This hall’s design intentionally eschewed the then-popular shoebox shape in favor of a more rectangular form with a slightly higher ceiling, resulting in a warmer, richer sound. The Musikverein has hosted countless performances by leading musicians throughout its history and is considered one of the world’s premier concert venues. It continues to be central to Vienna's vibrant musical life and a key location for classical music recordings.
