Experience Avi Avital live on November 8th
Avi Avital is scheduled to perform at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, Germany on November 8, 2026. Avital is an Israeli mandolin virtuoso renowned for expanding the instrument’s repertoire and perception within classical music. His performances and recordings frequently incorporate both established classical works transcribed for the mandolin and newly commissioned pieces, often exploring connections between Baroque, contemporary, and world music traditions. He is known for a dynamic and expressive playing style that showcases the mandolin’s capabilities beyond traditional folk idioms.
The Prinzregententheater, opened in 1903, holds a significant place in Munich’s cultural history. Commissioned by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria (hence the name), it was originally intended as a showcase for operetta and “fast popular plays” – a deliberate contrast to the more formal Bavarian State Opera. Architect Max Littmann designed the theater in a distinctive Art Nouveau style, incorporating elements reminiscent of Jugendstil. While initially focused on lighter fare, the Prinzregententheater later became a venue for opera, ballet, and concert performances.
