The Attacca Quartet is scheduled to perform at St Brendan’s Church in Bantry, County Cork, Ireland on July 5th, 2026. The quartet is recognized for its dynamic and intensely engaged performances of classical, contemporary, and cross-genre repertoire. While rooted in the traditional string quartet literature – encompassing composers like Beethoven and Schubert – they are also known for commissioning and performing works by living composers, and for incorporating elements of jazz, rock, and electronic music into their interpretations and programming. They won the Grammy Award for Best Classical Album in 2023 for their recording of Beethoven String Quartets.

St Brendan’s Church, located in Bantry town centre, is a significant architectural landmark completed in 1842 during the Gothic Revival period. Designed by architect James Joseph McCarthy, it replaced an earlier church on the site. The church is noted for its impressive scale, featuring pointed arches, stained glass windows depicting scenes from the life of Saint Brendan, and a prominent bell tower. It serves as the primary Catholic church for the Bantry parish and remains an active place of worship alongside hosting cultural events due to its acoustic properties and historical importance within the local community.
