The Arod Quartet is scheduled to perform at the Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial on September 6, 2026. The quartet, formed in 2002 at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, is recognized for its interpretations of the classical string quartet repertoire, particularly composers from Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert and Bartók. Their playing style is often described as possessing both intellectual rigor and emotional depth, noted for clarity of texture and a vibrant, unified sound. They have received numerous awards including the FNAPEE Prize in France and first prize at the International String Quartet Competition in Lyon.

The Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial is situated within the Royal Monastery of El Escorial, a historical residence of the King of Spain. Originally constructed by Philip II in the 16th century, the monastery served multiple purposes – a palace, pantheon, library, and school. The theatre itself was added later, undergoing significant renovations in the 20th century to improve its acoustics and functionality as a performance space. It’s known for its relatively intimate size and excellent acoustics making it a favoured venue for chamber music performances.
