Altan is scheduled to perform at the Fox Tucson Theatre in Tucson, Arizona on October 13, 2026. The group is renowned for its innovative interpretations of traditional Irish music. Their sound blends the virtuosity of instrumentalists – featuring fiddle, flute, guitar, and uilleann pipes – with the compelling vocals of Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, often singing in Irish Gaelic. Altan is considered a pivotal force in popularizing traditional Irish music internationally since forming in 1985, significantly influencing subsequent generations of musicians within the genre.

The Fox Tucson Theatre originally opened in 1930 as a movie palace designed in the Art Deco and Pueblo Deco styles. Architect Lescher & Mahoney designed the building, incorporating elements reflective of both architectural movements and local Southwestern aesthetics. It operated primarily as a cinema for several decades before falling into disrepair. A significant restoration project, completed in 2017, revitalized the theatre, returning it to its original grandeur while modernizing its capabilities for live performances.
