Alexandre Kantorow, a French classical pianist renowned for his passionate and virtuosic performances, will appear in concert at Symphony Hall in Boston on April 29, 2027. Kantorow’s playing is often described as combining technical brilliance with a deeply expressive and romantic sensibility, frequently drawing comparisons to pianists of the Golden Age while maintaining a distinctly modern approach. He gained international recognition as the first French winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019. His repertoire encompasses a broad range of composers, but he is particularly noted for his interpretations of Russian composers like Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev.

Symphony Hall, completed in 1900, is considered one of the most acoustically perfect concert venues in the world. Designed by McKim, Mead & White, it is home to the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops. The hall’s exceptional acoustics are attributed to its “shoe-box” shape and meticulous construction utilizing specific materials and proportions. Prior to its construction, the site housed the Boston Theatre and prior to that, the Massachusetts Hospital.
