Experience Alexander Lonquich live on January 5th
Alexander Lonquich will perform at the Isarphilharmonie in Munich on January 5th, 2027. Lonquich is a German pianist recognized for his intellectually rigorous and emotionally nuanced interpretations of classical and contemporary repertoire. His playing is often described as characterized by clarity, structural understanding, and a distinctive, non-demonstrative approach to virtuosity; he frequently champions composers like Beethoven, Schubert, and Ligeti. He is known for extensive work with historically informed performance practice even when performing on a modern piano.
The Isarphilharmonie, opened in 2009, is a concert hall located in the Gasteig cultural complex in Munich. Designed by architect Henning Larsen, it serves as the primary performance venue for the Munich Philharmonic orchestra when the main Gasteig hall is undergoing renovation (currently scheduled to conclude in 2027). The hall is noted for its excellent acoustics and flexible design, accommodating a range of orchestral and chamber music performances. It was specifically constructed as an interim solution to maintain Munich’s orchestral programming during the extensive Gasteig refurbishment project and has become a popular venue in its own right. The hall’s capacity is approximately 580 seats.
