Monet is a Black American poet, performer, and musician whose work blends spoken word poetry with elements of jazz, soul, and experimental soundscapes. Her performances are known for their raw emotionality, intricate lyricism addressing themes of Black womanhood, trauma, healing, and liberation, and dynamic musical arrangements often incorporating live instrumentation. She released her debut album *when the flowers bloom* in 2023 to critical acclaim.

The Great Hall is a historic venue located in Toronto’s West Queen West neighborhood. Originally built in 1889 as a meeting hall for the Oddfellows fraternal society, it has served various purposes throughout its history including a theatre, dance hall and cinema. It underwent significant renovations in the early 2000s while retaining many of its original architectural features such as ornate ceilings and stained-glass windows.
