Violet Thrones is the moniker of American multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Lindsay Lowend. Emerging from the DIY music scene of Philadelphia in the early 2010s, Lowend initially gained recognition for her work in various indie rock bands before launching Violet Thrones as a solo project in 2015 with the EP *Empty Rooms*.
Her sound is characterized by atmospheric dream pop blended with elements of shoegaze, post-punk, and electronic music. Heavily layered instrumentation—often featuring reverb-drenched guitars, synths, and programmed beats—creates a distinctly immersive sonic landscape. Lyrically, Violet Thrones explores themes of isolation, memory, and emotional vulnerability.
To date, Violet Thrones has released three full-length albums: *Violet Thrones* (2016), *Underneath the Static* (2019), and *Method Moon* (2023) – the latter receiving critical acclaim from publications like Pitchfork and Bandcamp Daily. She’s toured extensively across North America, supporting acts such as Cloakroom and Spiritual Front, and has consistently released music through independent labels like Run For Cover Records & Born Losers Records.
