Experience The Frames
The Frames emerged from Dublin, Ireland in the early 1990s, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the Irish alternative music scene. Led by Glen Hansard, the band initially gained traction with independently released EPs before their 1997 debut album, *Dance the Devil*, showcased their dynamic blend of indie rock, folk, and orchestral arrangements.
Known for intensely passionate live performances and Hansard’s emotive vocals, The Frames built a dedicated following through relentless touring – often playing hundreds of shows annually. Subsequent albums like *For the Birds* (2001) and *Burn the Maps* (2004) expanded their sonic palette, incorporating more experimental elements while retaining their core emotional depth.
Despite critical acclaim and influence on subsequent Irish musicians (Mumford & Sons cite them as inspiration), The Frames never achieved mainstream commercial success comparable to their impact. However, Hansard’s later work with Markéta Irglová as The Swell Season – culminating in the Oscar-winning song "Falling Slowly" from the film *Once* – brought wider recognition to his songwriting talent initially honed within The Frames.
