Taisha Estrada is a Dominican-American vocalist, composer, and bandleader rapidly gaining recognition for her innovative approach to Latin jazz and Afro-Caribbean music. Based in New York City, Estrada’s career blossomed after earning a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice from Purchase College Conservatory of Music. She fronts the Taisha Estrada Sextet, showcasing original compositions deeply rooted in her heritage while incorporating contemporary jazz sensibilities.

Her debut album, *Ancestral Narratives* (2023), released on Sunnyside Records, received critical acclaim for its sophisticated arrangements and Estrada’s powerful, nuanced vocals – often sung in Spanish. The album explores themes of identity, ancestry, and resilience through vibrant musical storytelling.

Estrada’s style blends traditional Bomba y Plena rhythms with bebop improvisation and modern harmonic concepts. She's been lauded for her dynamic stage presence and ability to connect with audiences emotionally. Awards include the 2022 ASCAP Foundation Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award and a 2021 Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Creation Grant supporting *Ancestral Narratives*.
