Experience Soul Sacrifice
Soul Sacrifice is a Canadian funk/soul band formed in Toronto in 1975, achieving significant popularity throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s. Originally a ten-piece ensemble, the group was renowned for its energetic live performances and tight horn section. Their sound blends elements of funk, soul, disco, and R&B, heavily influenced by artists like Earth, Wind & Fire and Parliament-Funkadelic.
The band’s breakthrough came with their self-titled debut album in 1976, featuring the hit single "You'll Never Know What You Got (Until You Lose It)." This track reached #1 on the RPM Canadian singles chart and gained international airplay. They followed up with albums like *Second Soul Sacrifice* (1978) and *Midnight Mirage* (1980), continuing to tour extensively across Canada and the United States.
While they disbanded in the early 1980s, Soul Sacrifice reformed in 2003 and have continued to perform sporadically, maintaining a dedicated fanbase. They were nominated for a Juno Award in 1978 for Best R&B Group.
