Richard Ashby (born November 26, 1978) is a British smooth jazz and contemporary R&B saxophonist and songwriter. He rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with a distinctive, melodic style often compared to Kenny G but possessing a more pronounced urban contemporary edge. Ashby’s career launched after being discovered while performing at a hotel in Barbados.

His debut album, *Holding On* (2000), achieved gold status in the UK, featuring the hit single “Love Story,” which reached #4 on the UK Singles Chart. Subsequent albums include *Reality Check* (2003), *Spheres* (2007), and *Feel* (2011), consistently charting within the UK's top 40.

Ashby's music is characterized by its sophisticated arrangements, soulful improvisations, and use of electronic elements alongside traditional jazz instrumentation. He has collaborated with artists like Brian McKnight and toured extensively throughout Europe and the US.
