Divorced Horses is a Canadian indie rock band formed in 2018 in Guelph, Ontario, currently based in Toronto. The core duo consists of Andrew Collins (guitar/vocals) and Justin Baker (drums/vocals), known for their dynamic interplay and emotionally resonant songwriting. Previously members of the band Hot Springs, Collins and Baker transitioned into Divorced Horses following its dissolution.
Their sound blends elements of 90s alternative rock – think Pavement and Built to Spill – with a distinctly Canadian lyrical sensibility, often characterized by self-deprecating humour and introspective observations. They’ve garnered attention for their energetic live performances and meticulously crafted arrangements.
Divorced Horses released their debut EP, *I Loved You So Much*, in 2019, followed by their critically acclaimed full-length album *Afterlife* in 2022 on Royal Mountain Records. *Afterlife* received widespread praise from publications like Pitchfork and Exclaim!, earning them a Juno Award nomination for Alternative Album of the Year in 2023. They continue to tour extensively, building a dedicated fanbase with their raw honesty and catchy melodies.
