Experience QUARTETTO MAGRITTE
Quartetto Magritte is a contemporary Italian string quartet formed in Florence in 1998. Comprising Alessandro Lanzoni (violin I), Filippo Milani (violin II), Dimitri Kuzmin (viola), and Luca Gianfranceschi (cello), the ensemble is renowned for its innovative approach to chamber music and its blending of classical repertoire with influences from minimalist, electronic, and pop music.
They’ve consistently championed the work of living composers, commissioning pieces from figures like Michael Gordon, Philip Glass, and Bryce Dessner (The National). Their discography includes critically acclaimed recordings of works by Arvo Pärt, Steve Reich, and a series dedicated to Italian composers. Notably, their album *I Concerti* (2017) featuring concerti grossi by Corelli and Valentini received widespread praise.
Quartetto Magritte frequently performs internationally at major venues and festivals including the Lincoln Center, Barbican Centre, and Wien Modern. Beyond performance, they are active in educational outreach programs. The quartet's dedication to expanding the boundaries of the string quartet tradition has earned them numerous awards and a reputation as one of Italy’s leading chamber ensembles.
