Muse is a British rock band formed in Teignmouth, Devon, in 1994. Comprising Matt Bellamy (vocals, guitar, piano), Dominic Howard (drums), and Chris Wolstenholme (bass), they initially gained recognition performing covers and original material on the local circuit. Their sound evolved to encompass progressive rock, alternative rock, art rock, and elements of electronica and classical music – often characterized by Bellamy’s wide vocal range and virtuosic guitar playing.
The band achieved mainstream success with their second album, *Origin of Symmetry* (2001), featuring singles like "Plug In Baby." Subsequent albums – *Absolution* (2003), *Black Holes and Revelations* (2006), *The Resistance* (2009), *The 2nd Law* (2012), *Drones* (2015) and *Simulation Theory* (2018) – consistently topped charts globally.
Muse has won numerous awards including two Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, and five MTV Europe Music Awards. They are known for their elaborate live shows incorporating extensive use of pyrotechnics, visuals and innovative stage designs.
