MOMO (born Momoko Sakura, November 1, 1978) is a highly influential Japanese singer-songwriter celebrated for her distinctive blend of city pop, jazz, and bossa nova. Emerging in the early 2000s, she initially gained recognition providing vocals for the electronic music duo Fantastic Plastic Machine, co-created with her then-husband.

Her solo career blossomed in 2003 with the album *Star Line*, establishing her signature sound – breathy vocals layered over sophisticated arrangements featuring live instrumentation. MOMO’s music evokes a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of 1980s Japanese urban life. She’s released numerous critically acclaimed albums including *Rainy Day*, *Armor*, and *Cloud Nine*, consistently praised for their melodic richness and lyrical depth.
