Mndsgn, born Jesse James Weir, is a Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ deeply rooted in the left-field hip-hop and jazz scenes. Initially gaining recognition through self-released projects on Bandcamp in the early 2010s, his sound quickly evolved beyond simple beatmaking. He’s known for a distinctive aesthetic blending dusty, sample-based production with live instrumentation – prominently Rhodes piano, drums, and bass – creating a warm, lo-fi texture.

Early EPs like *Fruit Fly* (2015) established his signature style. He signed to Stones Throw Records in 2016, releasing the critically acclaimed album *Body Wash*. Subsequent releases including *Rarefruit* (2018) and *Flux Capstone* (2021) further solidified his reputation for intricate arrangements and emotionally resonant compositions.

Mndsgn frequently collaborates with artists like Knxwledge and Sudan Archives, demonstrating his versatility.
