Experience Mei Semones

Mei Semones is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and vocalist rapidly gaining recognition for her innovative approach to jazz and experimental music. Originally from the Bay Area, Semones honed her skills at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City, graduating in 2018. She’s a prominent member of the Brooklyn-based collective, Karriem Riggins Presents Third Class Authority, alongside prominent figures like Theo Croker and Butcher Brown.

Semones' musical style blends deeply rooted jazz traditions with electronic textures, hip-hop influences, and vocal processing. Her debut EP, *Prelude to Ludicrous*, released in 2020, showcased her unique sound design and improvisational abilities. She’s collaborated with artists like serpentwithfeet and Moses Sumney, demonstrating her versatility.

Notably, Semones was selected as a 2023 Emerging Artist in Residence at the Newport Jazz Festival – a significant platform for rising talent. Her live performances are lauded for their captivating energy and seamless integration of technology with organic instrumentation. She continues to tour internationally and is currently working on her first full-length album anticipated for release in 2024.
