Experience Mark Hummel
Mark Hummel is a highly respected American blues harmonica player, singer, and bandleader. Born in 1951, he’s been a cornerstone of the West Coast blues scene since the 1970s, initially gaining prominence with the Bluesbreakers (not to be confused with John Mayall’s band). Hummel is renowned for his technically proficient and deeply soulful chromatic harmonica playing, heavily influenced by Sonny Terry and Little Walter.
He's consistently championed traditional post-war Chicago blues, often featuring legendary musicians alongside him. Hummel’s discography boasts over 20 albums, including critically acclaimed releases like *Blind Willie & the Jelly Roll Kings* (with Charlie Musselwhite) and *Last Soldier*. He frequently leads the Blues Blowhards, assembling all-star ensembles for live performances and recordings.
A dedicated preserver of the genre, Hummel has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe. He's received numerous Blues Music Award nominations – winning for Harmonica Player in 2001 – and is recognized for his commitment to authentic blues performance and mentorship of younger musicians.
