Born in Rochester, New York, but musically forged in the crucible of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sansone began his professional career in the 1970s with the Blue Runners. He quickly became a fixture on the Gulf Coast blues scene, honing a style that blends Chicago blues with strong influences of zydeco and New Orleans R&B.

Sansone’s distinctive sound is characterized by powerfully emotive harmonica playing – often described as raw and gritty – coupled with soulful vocals and insightful songwriting.
