Born in 1976, Resende initially trained classically at the Conservatório de Música de Lisboa, later immersing himself in jazz improvisation studies with renowned figures like Brad Mehldau and Maria Schneider.

He’s a prolific recording artist, leading the Júlio Resende Trio and collaborating extensively with artists like Maria João, Per Lindvall, and Nguyên Lê. His discography includes critically acclaimed albums such as “Spiral” (2010) and “Live at Hot Club de Portugal” (2017), showcasing his dynamic interplay and sophisticated harmonic language.
