Juan de Marcos González, born in Havana, Cuba in 1973, is a highly influential figure in *son cubano* and *salsa* music. Initially gaining prominence as the musical director and trumpeter for the internationally acclaimed Buena Vista Social Club from 1996-2002, he was instrumental in reviving traditional Cuban sounds for a global audience. He didn't just *play* with them; he meticulously researched and reconstructed arrangements from the pre-revolutionary era, ensuring authenticity.
