Joanna Connor is a Chicago-based blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter renowned for her fiery and technically brilliant playing. Emerging from the city’s vibrant blues scene in the 1990s, she quickly gained recognition as a protégé of legendary bluesman Buddy Guy, who frequently invited her to perform with him. Connor’s style blends traditional Chicago blues with elements of rock and jazz, characterized by aggressive slide guitar work, powerful vocals, and improvisational flair.
She released her debut album *Truth is Real* in 1997, followed by several critically acclaimed albums including *Doorway to Sky* (2002) and *Unbuildable* (2014). A significant career milestone arrived in 2021 with *Come Your Way*, which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album.
Connor has toured extensively both nationally and internationally, sharing stages with artists like Robert Cray and Bonnie Raitt.
