Born in Paris, France, and raised in Toronto, Canada, Cook initially studied classical guitar before being captivated by the passionate energy of flamenco.

He gained prominence in the mid-1990s as a member of the popular Cuban band Café Cubano, touring extensively. His solo career launched with *Tempest* (1995), followed by critically acclaimed albums like *Vertigo* (2001) which earned him a Juno Award for Instrumental Album of the Year.

Cook’s compositions are characterized by intricate fingerstyle guitar work, vibrant percussion, and evocative melodies.
