Experience Jay Daniels
Jay Daniels is a highly respected American blues and soul singer-songwriter, primarily known for his powerful vocals and emotive delivery. Emerging from the vibrant Chicago blues scene of the 1960s, Daniels initially gained recognition as a vocalist with several groups before launching a successful solo career. He signed with Okeh Records in 1967, releasing a string of singles including the now-classic “Don’t Play Around With A Good Girl,” which reached the R&B Top 30.
Daniels’ style blends traditional Chicago blues with elements of soul and gospel, characterized by raw emotion and sophisticated songwriting. He frequently toured alongside prominent artists like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, further honing his craft. Though recording activity slowed in the 70s, he continued performing regionally.
A resurgence came in the late 1980s and 90s with European tours and re-releases of his earlier work on labels like Black & Blue Records.
