Jasdeep Singh Degun is a highly acclaimed British Indian musician revolutionizing the perception of the dilruba, a bowed string instrument traditionally associated with Sikh devotional music (kirtan). Born into a lineage of renowned musicians – his grandfather, Bhai Avtar Singh Ji, was a legendary dilruba player – Degun initially trained classically in Hindustani and Sikh musical traditions.

He’s distinguished himself by extending the dilruba’s repertoire beyond religious contexts, seamlessly blending it with jazz, contemporary classical, and electronica. This innovative approach earned him a Royal Academy of Music Jazz Diploma and collaborations with artists like Nitin Sawhney and Soumik Datta.

Degun’s debut album, *Anurag*, released in 2019, received widespread critical acclaim, including a nomination for the Mercury Prize. He followed this with *Elixir* (2023), further showcasing his virtuosity and compositional skill.
