Experience Garland

Judy Garland (born Frances Ethel Gumm; 1922-1969) was an American actress, singer, and dancer whose career spanned 45 years. Initially signed to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1935, she rose to fame starring in musical films like *The Wizard of Oz* (1939), cementing her status as a child star. Throughout the 1940s and 50s, Garland continued starring in successful MGM musicals such as *Meet Me in St. Louis* (1944) and *Easter Parade* (1948).

Her vocal style was characterized by its emotive delivery, technical skill, and wide range – transitioning from bright soprano to a more mature mezzo-soprano. She excelled in interpreting songs by composers like Harold Arlen and George Gershwin.

Despite personal struggles, Garland experienced a significant career resurgence in the early 1960s with critically acclaimed performances on television and a triumphant comeback concert at Carnegie Hall in 1961, resulting in the Grammy Award-winning album *Judy at Carnegie Hall*.
