Eric Bachmann is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known as the frontman and primary songwriter for the indie rock band Archers of Loaf. Emerging from the Chapel Hill, North Carolina scene in the early 1990s, Bachmann helped define the era's guitar-driven sound with a style characterized by dissonant chords, angular riffs, and an idiosyncratic vocal delivery. Under his leadership, Archers of Loaf released several critically acclaimed albums, including Vim and Vellic Time, which established them as influential figures in the 1990s alternative rock landscape.

Following the dissolution of Archers of Loaf, Bachmann transitioned into a solo career and formed the project Dreadful Hummingbird. His solo work represents a stylistic shift toward Americana, folk, and sophisticated pop, trading high-volume distortion for nuanced storytelling and melodic arrangements. His discography as a solo artist includes albums such as No One Ever Gets Out Alive and The Great Divide.
