Elf Traps, born Antoine Dufournel in Paris, France (1986), is a pioneering figure in the French electronic music scene, specifically known for his development of “Trap Japonais.” Initially gaining recognition through Soundcloud in the early 2010s, he blended the aggressive 808s and hi-hat patterns of trap music with samples heavily inspired by Japanese city pop, anime soundtracks, and video game music – particularly from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras.

His breakthrough came with tracks like "Rage Quit" (2013) and subsequent releases on Bromance Records, co-founded by Gesaffelstein. Elf Traps’ style is characterized by its juxtaposition of nostalgic melodies and hard-hitting beats, creating a unique sonic landscape often described as melancholic yet energetic. He's released several EPs including *Tokyo Drift* (2014) and *Vaporwave Memories* (2015).

Beyond original productions, Elf Traps has remixed artists like Kanye West and Justice, further solidifying his presence within electronic music circles.
