El Chanclazo, born José Refugio Padilla (born December 26, 1971, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico), is a prominent figure in the *tribal guarachero* and electronic music scene. Initially gaining recognition in the early 2000s as a DJ in Monterrey, Mexico, he pioneered the blending of cumbia sonidera, electronic beats, and often humorous vocal samples – a style that would define tribal guarachero.

His breakthrough came with tracks like “Chanclazo” (2008), which lent him his stage name and became an instant regional hit. El Chanclazo's music is characterized by its fast tempo (typically around 150-170 BPM), heavy basslines, and repetitive vocal chops frequently featuring shouted phrases or playful commands. He’s released numerous albums and compilations, including *Ritmo Selva* (2014) and consistently tours throughout Mexico and increasingly internationally, performing at festivals like Ceremonia.

Beyond performance, El Chanclazo has significantly influenced a new generation of Mexican electronic artists.
