Dobet Gnahoré is an Ivorian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, internationally recognized for her powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence. Born in Abidjan, she grew up immersed in the traditions of the Bété people, particularly through her mother, a celebrated storyteller and singer. This heritage profoundly shapes her music, blending traditional West African rhythms – notably from the *griot* tradition – with contemporary influences like jazz, blues, and pop.

Gnahoré’s distinctive sound is characterized by her mastery of the *sanbà*, a traditional Ivorian percussion instrument she often plays while singing. She gained wider recognition as part of the band Zap Mama before launching a successful solo career in 2004 with her debut album *Premier rendez-vous*.

She has released several critically acclaimed albums including *Naï Lobi* (2010), earning a Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album.
