Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra is a London-based ensemble led by Nigerian-British musician Dele Sosimi, a pivotal figure in the continuation and evolution of Afrobeat. Sosimi initially gained prominence as keyboardist and musical director for Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80 band from 1986-1996, deeply immersing himself in the genre’s complex arrangements and political messaging.

Following Fela’s death, Sosimi dedicated himself to preserving and expanding Afrobeat, forming his own orchestra in 2006. Their sound is characterized by driving polyrhythms, layered horn sections, intricate guitar work, and Sosimi’s distinctive keyboard playing – a direct lineage from Fela's style but infused with modern production techniques.
