David Eugene Edwards is an American singer-songwriter and musician, best known as the frontman for the influential 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand projects. Born in Denver, Colorado, Edwards began his musical career in the 1980s with bands like The Reivers before forming 16 Horsepower in 1992. That band blended alternative country, gothic Americana, and dark wave elements, garnering a cult following with albums like *Sadness of Machinery* (1995) and *Low Estate* (1997).

Following 16 Horsepower’s dissolution in 2005, Edwards continued as Wovenhand, exploring increasingly experimental and often intensely spiritual themes. Wovenhand's sound incorporates elements of post-punk, noise rock, and world music alongside his signature baritone vocals and lyrical focus on biblical imagery and existential struggles. He has released numerous critically acclaimed albums under this moniker, including *Refractory Obdurate* (2008) and *Mosaic* (2017).
