Circuit des Yeux is the project of American musician Beverly Breed, originating in Baltimore and now based in Los Angeles. Emerging in the late 2000s, Breed initially gained attention for her stark, emotionally resonant solo performances featuring looping pedal techniques and a powerfully distinctive contralto voice. Her early work, like 2011’s *Hand Held Hostage*, showcased minimalist arrangements focused on vocal layering and atmospheric textures.

Over time, Circuit des Yeux evolved towards increasingly ambitious orchestral arrangements. Albums like *In Plain Language* (2014) and *Reaching for Celestial Ceiling* (2017) incorporated strings, brass, and woodwinds, expanding her sonic palette while retaining a core of introspective lyricism. 2022's *–io* marked a significant shift towards electronic instrumentation and complex rhythmic structures, earning widespread critical acclaim – *Pitchfork* named it Best New Music.

Breed’s music defies easy categorization, often described as art pop, experimental rock, or chamber pop. She’s toured extensively supporting artists like Swans and has received recognition for her innovative approach to vocal performance and composition.
