Carlos del Junco is a highly respected American percussionist, renowned for his mastery of the cajón and innovative approach to hand percussion. Born in Peru and raised in the US, he began performing professionally at age 16, quickly gaining recognition within the Latin music scene of Southern California. Del Junco is particularly celebrated for popularizing the cajón – a box-shaped Peruvian percussion instrument – within diverse musical genres beyond its traditional flamenco roots.

He’s collaborated extensively with prominent artists including Rod Stewart, Celia Cruz, Dave Koz, and Patti Austin, demonstrating his versatility. A founding member of the Latin jazz ensemble, Café con Leche, he’s released several solo albums showcasing his virtuosity and compositional skills; notably *World Percussion*, *Urban Rhythms* and *Livin' La Vida Percussiva*.
