Black Marble is the solo project of American musician Chris Stewart, known for his distinctive blend of post-punk, synth-pop, and coldwave. Emerging from Brooklyn’s vibrant indie scene in 2012, Black Marble quickly gained attention with a sound characterized by minimalistic synthesizer arrangements, haunting vocals, and a retro 1980s aesthetic. Stewart’s music often explores themes of isolation and introspection, wrapped in atmospheric textures that evoke both nostalgia and modernity.
Black Marble’s debut album, *A Different Arrangement* (2012), received critical acclaim for its lo-fi production and evocative moodiness. Following this, the 2016 release *It’s Immaterial* showcased a polished evolution with richer synth layers and deeper emotional resonance. After relocating to Los Angeles, Stewart continued to refine his sound with the 2019 album *Bigger Than Life*, further cementing Black Marble’s reputation in the synth-driven alternative music landscape.
