Bill Frisell

Bill Frisell is an acclaimed American guitarist, composer, and bandleader who has made significant contributions to the world of contemporary jazz and improvised music. With a career spanning over four decades, Frisell has established himself as one of the most innovative and versatile musicians of his generation.

Born on March 18, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, Frisell grew up in Denver, Colorado. He began playing guitar at a young age and was heavily influenced by various genres including jazz, rock, folk, and country. This diverse musical background shaped Frisell's unique style which seamlessly blends elements from different genres to create a distinctive sound that defies categorization.

Frisell's career took off in the early 1980s when he joined the renowned ECM Records label. His debut album as a leader, "In Line," was released in 1983 and showcased his signature blend of improvisation and melodic sensibility. Since then, he has released over 40 albums as a leader or co-leader and has collaborated with numerous esteemed musicians such as John Zorn, Paul Motian, Dave Holland, and many others.
