Bella Wakame is a Japanese-British singer-songwriter and producer gaining recognition for her genre-bending sound, often described as “bedroom pop” with elements of R&B, jazz, and electronic music. Born and raised in London, she began releasing music independently in 2019, initially gaining traction on platforms like SoundCloud.

Her breakthrough came with the 2021 EP *0808*, praised for its intimate lyricism and lo-fi aesthetic. In 2023, Bella signed with Secretly Canadian, releasing her critically acclaimed debut album *Velvet Blue*. The album explored themes of identity, displacement, and self-discovery through layered vocals and atmospheric production.

Wakame’s music is characterized by its vulnerability and introspective nature; she frequently utilizes Japanese phrases within her songwriting reflecting her heritage. She's supported artists like beabadoobee on tour and received features from publications including *NME*, *Pitchfork*, and *The Line of Best Fit*. Her production style often incorporates samples and found sounds creating a unique sonic texture. She continues to write, produce & perform independently while building a dedicated fanbase.
