Arc Iris was an American indie pop band formed in Portland, Oregon in 2012, led by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Brittney Allen (formerly of the band Tornado Rider). The group, consistently featuring Zach Lindsey (keyboards/vocals), Noah Bowman (bass/vocals), and David Jarvis (drums/percussion), quickly garnered attention for their dynamic live performances and intricate arrangements.
Their debut album, *Arc Iris* (2013), released on Bella Union, showcased a blend of chamber pop, art rock, and folk influences, earning critical acclaim from publications like Pitchfork and NPR Music. They followed with *Moonloop* (2015) which expanded on their sonic palette incorporating more electronic elements while maintaining their signature orchestral textures.
Arc Iris toured extensively supporting artists like Local Natives and Father John Misty. They were praised for Allen's powerful vocals and the band’s ability to create emotionally resonant soundscapes. Though the band announced an indefinite hiatus in 2017 after releasing several singles, their work continues to be celebrated for its originality and artistic ambition. Allen has since pursued solo work under her own name.
