Alison Cotton is a British multi-instrumentalist, composer, and singer-songwriter known for her deeply atmospheric and subtly experimental folk music. Initially gaining recognition as a member of the acclaimed post-rock band The Left Outsiders (with members of Mogwai & Godspeed You! Black Emperor), Cotton transitioned to a solo career in the early 2010s.

Her work blends traditional folk instrumentation – primarily acoustic guitar, harmonium, and piano – with looping, subtle electronic textures, and field recordings, creating immersive soundscapes. Cotton's vocals are often layered and ethereal, contributing to the dreamlike quality of her music.
