Experience World’S Fair Park Performance Lawn

World’s Fair Park Performance Lawn, nestled in the heart of Knoxville, Tennessee, is a sprawling 4.5-acre outdoor venue born from the legacy of the 1982 World’s Fair. Originally the site of the fair’s amphitheater, it retains a distinct mid-century modern aesthetic influenced by the original fair design, particularly visible in the surrounding Sunsphere and nearby structures.

The Lawn hosts a diverse range of events, primarily focusing on free summer concerts – “Sundown in the City” being a long-standing tradition – showcasing genres like country, rock, bluegrass, and contemporary pop. It's also utilized for festivals, movie nights, and community gatherings. Unlike traditional arenas, its open-air format and gently sloping terrain offer expansive views and a relaxed atmosphere.

Its historical significance stems from being a central hub during the World’s Fair and continuing as Knoxville’s premier outdoor event space. Amenities include ample green space for blankets & lawn chairs, portable restrooms during events, and proximity to downtown restaurants & parking. The Lawn is a key component of Knoxville's vibrant music scene and plays an important role in fostering community engagement through accessible entertainment.
