Experience The Trinity Theatre
The Trinity Theatre in Royal Tunbridge Wells opened in 1980, evolving from the former Congregational Church built in 1862. Architecturally, the building retains significant Victorian Gothic Revival features, notably its striking façade and internal stained-glass windows, blended with modern theatre infrastructure following its conversion. Originally named the Tunbridge Wells Assembly Hall, it was renamed The Trinity Theatre in 1994.
The venue hosts a diverse program encompassing music, theatre, comedy, and film. Musically, it frequently features jazz, folk, blues, and contemporary singer-songwriters alongside classical performances. It has hosted performances by artists including Jools Holland and Eddi Reader.
The theatre’s adaptable space allows for both seated and standing configurations with a capacity of 388. Unique to the venue is its commitment to supporting emerging artists alongside established names; it operates a community outreach program offering workshops and performance opportunities for local groups. The Trinity Theatre serves as a key cultural hub within Royal Tunbridge Wells and is a registered charity operated by a board of trustees. It underwent a significant refurbishment in 2017 to improve accessibility and facilities.
